What information do I need to provide to get a custom timing belt quote?

What information do I need to provide to get a custom timing belt quote?

Short answer: Pitch and tooth profile, belt length or tooth count, width, material and cord preference, quantity and working conditions. With a drawing or an old sample you can send even less, because we measure the rest. The more complete your enquiry, the fewer clarification rounds before you have a firm price.

The core specification

Pitch and profile

For example HTD 8M or AT10, or an imperial pitch. If you do not know it, a clear photo of the teeth next to a ruler is a good start.

Length and width

Pitch length or tooth count plus width. If you measured an old belt, give us the outside length and we will convert it.

Material and cord

Rubber or PU, and glass, aramid or steel cord if you have a preference. No preference? Tell us the load and speed and we will propose.

Quantity

Trial quantity and target annual volume. Both matter, because tooling and mould choices depend on the volume you expect.

Business meeting where an enquiry and quotation are discussed
A complete enquiry usually gets a firm quotation within one working exchange, not five.

If you have no drawing at all

  • Measure the old belt as it lies flat: outside length, width and thickness, plus photos of the teeth beside a ruler.
  • Send machine data instead: pulley tooth counts, pulley diameters and center distance, and we will calculate the belt.
  • Give the belt part number from the machine manual or from the old belt itself. We use it for cross-reference only. GOODLY is an independent manufacturer and does not sell branded originals.
Finished belts sorted and labelled before packing
Whether one trial belt or a production batch, the enquiry process is the same.

Working conditions that change the price

  • Temperature range, and any oil, coolant, dust or washdown exposure.
  • Whether the belt needs a cover, coating, grounding stripe or a special colour.
  • Documentation needs, such as a material declaration or third-party inspection, which add cost and lead time.
  • Your deadline, because air-freighted rush production is quoted differently from sea-freight batches.
If all you have is the machine nameplate, send it anyway and tell us the belt is missing. We will ask for the two or three details that identify the construction, instead of guessing from the machine brand and wasting a quotation round.
Engineer checking belt dimensions with calipers
Dimensions from an old belt, checked with calipers, are the fastest route to an accurate quotation.
