Direct answer: Yes. PU timing belts can be supplied with welded or moulded cleats, ground or perforated back surfaces, tracking guides and side walls, and bonded covers such as natural rubber, silicone or PVC, all made to your drawing.

What can be added to a PU timing belt
Cleats and flights
Cross cleats in PU or rubber, welded, screwed or moulded in place at your spacing. Welded cleats suit medium loads; moulded cleats hold position and angle more accurately on high-cycle drives.
Covers and coatings
Natural rubber for grip, silicone for release and heat, PVC for low friction. Coating thickness is typically 1 mm to 6 mm, depending on the compound and the load.
Machining
Back-side grinding, perforation, tracking guides and edge trimming. Machining is done from the back, so the tooth flanks that carry the load stay untouched.
What to send with your enquiry
- Belt code, or pitch plus length, plus width, for example 13.7AT10-4200 or 8M-2320-35.
- Cleat drawing: profile, height, width, spacing, position from the belt end, and whether cleats run on one edge or both.
- Cover type and thickness, or the material being conveyed and its temperature.
- Pulley diameters and whether the belt runs over a back-side idler, because cleats must clear the idler.
- Quantity per order and the annual volume you expect.

Practical limits worth knowing
| Feature | Typical limit | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Cleat height | Roughly up to one third of belt width, less on small pulleys | Tall cleats cannot pass over a small pulley without reverse bending |
| Cleat spacing | About 25 mm to 30 mm minimum for welded PU cleats | Closer spacing weakens the weld zone and raises cost quickly |
| Position tolerance | Normally within about plus or minus 1 mm | Confirm the value on your drawing before production starts |
| Coating thickness | 1 mm to 6 mm, thinner on small pulleys | Thick soft covers can delaminate at speed or stiffen the belt |
